Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Fill and maintain oil, fuel, and water levels
• Complete daily engine operating reports
• Visual checks for leaks, loose belts, and unusual vibrations and noises
• Report any unusual sounds or vibrations to proper personnel in the event a shut down is required
• Collect oil samples and ship to lab
• Have good knowledge of LO/TO procedures
• Diagnose routine engine malfunctions
• Balance power cylinders
• Replace and adjust fuel valves and lifters
• Change oil and filters
• Replace compressor valves
• Identify compressor packing leaks
• Have good working knowledge of the following and ability to troubleshoot same
• Air compressors
• Gas compressors
• Hydraulic cranes
• Small engine systems
• Survival craft
• Pumps
• Generators
• Drivers, gearbox, and couplings
• Have some knowledge of Production Operation duties
• Ability to supervise or assist other mechanics in maintaining and overhauling any mechanical systems or production platforms
• Ability to diagnose or troubleshoot equipment outlined in Level III requirements
• Ability to assist foreman in establishing goals for equipment, such as compressor reliability and availability
