Sanitation Supervisor
SUMMARY
To have all processing and packaging equipment changed and sanitized prior to the following production day. Ensure that all work activities of direct and indirect reports are performed with attention to highest standard of food quality, safe processes, and compliance with all company, customer, and legal requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Perform monthly safety meetings and instill safe work habits in all employees
- Manage, evaluate, motivate, and direct sanitation initiatives for plant sanitation department
- Ensure compliance with corporate standards and systems to monitor food safety and facility cleanliness
- Ensure the Sanitation Department is OSHA compliant and is responsible for safety and welfare of the employees
- Enforce company GMPs and company policies
- Review and update Master Cleaning Schedule
- Write necessary SSOPs and update as needed
- Evaluate all employees
- Train and document all employees on SSOPs and Safety
- Adjust daily routine to accommodate critical production needs
- Document all cleaning of buildings, equipment, and grounds
- Schedule employees effectively to maximize cleaning opportunities
- Control all operating costs including manpower, overtime, supplies, etc.
- Explore new, more cost effective cleaning methods
- Determine capital needs
- Perform and document daily inspections of equipment and facilities
- Oversee pest control duties and document corrective actions
- Create and follow up on manual work orders for any noted deficiencies
- Communicate with upper management on critical items and needs
- Communicate with all departments affected by scheduled cleaning
- Oversee weekly departmental payroll requirements
- Issue progressive discipline when applicable
- Maintain all equipment in clean and working order
- Oversee all waste and recycling handling
- Maintain facilities and equipment to protect product from adulteration
- Perform Hygiene swab test and document results with corrective actions
- Conduct and document post allergen line inspections
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages directly exempt level team leader and indirectly non-exempt employees in the Sanitation department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
