Job Summary

GEOTEK, a market leader in high-performance, engineered composite structural solutions, is looking for a high-potential, highly motivated engineer to join our team. The Sr. Composite Process Engineer is responsible for leading engineering projects to support continuous optimization of the pultrusion production process. Leveraging department pultrusion expertise, the Sr. Composite Process Engineer will foster continuous improvement of the pultrusion process and increased productivity as Geotek continues to grow. The ideal candidate is an energetic, self-motivated, self-starting, hands-on, resilient, and influential leader. They are capable of working from a vision, from which they can independently develop actionable tasks and projects. They are data-driven, detail orientated and organized, and possesses a desired to challenge existing process to promote safety, quality, and productivity. Previous experience in composite manufacturing is considered highly desirable. For the right candidate, this role may include supervisory responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the engineering responsibilities for the pultrusion process, and also cross functional support of the engineering responsibilities of the filament winding process
  • Scope and manage engineering projects that support and improve safety, quality, and productivity in the pultrusion department
  • Research, propose, and implement capital expenditure projects, including new tooling
  • Challenge current operating procedures and identify and propose new equipment, technologies, and processes to promote safety, quality, and productivity
  • Align with operations team by maintaining open and frequent communication with manager and supervisors
  • Work cross functionality to provide process engineering support of pultrusion production quality, equipment readiness, new product development, and cost reduction/supply chain risk mitigation, as directed
  • Maintain clear documentation of operating standards and processes to support training and technical assistance to the operations team
  • Maintain clear, complete, and accurate records for project documentation for future reference
  • Maintain and promote a clean and organized work space

Job Requirements

o Four year Bachelor s Degree in Engineering (mechanical, chemical, or composites preferred)

o 5-10 years of professional experience working in a manufacturing environment, with recent composites/pultrusion experience strongly preferred

o Must be an energetic and hands-on problem solver, self-motivated, self-starting, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly

o Capable of working from a vision, from which they can independently develop actionable tasks and projects

o Professional and concise communication and verbal skills are essential

o Familiarity with common thermoset resin systems, including polyester, vinyl-ester, and urethane is highly desirable. Familiarity with common manufacturing tooling design and development is desirable

o Excellent communication skills (written and oral) is essential

o Ability to work with different levels of staff, from line workers to executives, is highly desirable

o Experience with 3D modeling using SolidWorks of parts, assemblies, and drawings with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5; Formal GD&T training is desirable

o Experience with MS Office

o Detail oriented and organized to ensure accuracy and quality

o Ability to lead the support of occasional off-shift trials and production support requests, as required

o Must be able to stand, lift, use manual tools, and power tools

o Must adhere to all corporate policies and procedures

o Must remain flexible as priorities changes

Physical Work Conditions

Time should be split between the floor and the office or meeting rooms ranging anywhere from 25% to 75% on the production floor or engineering labs. While working on the floor there will be work with and around moving machinery, fumes and chemicals. Office work requires sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.
