Our team is currently looking for a SUBSURFACE ENGINEERING TEAM LEAD for a client in the Energy Industry.

The Permian Subsurface Engineering Team Lead will work with the Operations teams by supporting daily operations and gaining technical know-how in Unconventionals. Additionally, this individual will collaborate with Permian Management and Secondees to capture knowledge, modify and standardize workflows.


  • Direct reservoir & stimulation design engineering workflows providing oversight & guidance to eight direct reports
  • Develop & update workplans, overseeing projects to successful conclusion
  • Provide quality control, technical assurance & application of industry best practices
  • Coach, mentor & develop Associates on day-to-day tasks, ensuring work is completed to necessary standards, providing requisite guidance on priorities & deadlines
  • Supervise engineering workflows that support ongoing development & appraisal programs, including type curves & stimulation design
  • Oversee "cube-style" optimized development workflows to understand productivity across a variety of spacing / stacking & completion intensity scenarios
  • Ensure valid economic analyses & sensitivities are applied to determine onset of diminishing returns for fundamental Capex variables in relation to hydrocarbon productivity & EUR
  • Oversee completion modeling workflows that integrate varied multidisciplinary data sets
  • Support knowledge transfer initiatives, ensuring lessons learned & best practices flow in both directions between Associates & Secondees


Education and Certifications:

  • BS degree in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering
  • Highly proficient with Rate Transient Analysis (RTA)
  • Knowledge of third-party data source systems (IHS, DrillingInfo/Enverus, WoodMac, RSEG, etc.)
  • Understanding of Petrophysics, Geophysics and Geology fundamentals
  • Understanding of Phase Behavior and how it relates to recovery
  • Understanding of frac modeling techniques and theories/fundamentals
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of artificial lift mechanisms
  • Excellent MS Excel skills & Spotfire / Power BI expertise preferred
  • Proficient in the English language (written and oral); fluency in Spanish language desirable


  • Minimum of 12 years of reservoir & completion engineering experience
  • Deep Unconventional Subsurface understanding, including variables that impact deliverability and overall recovery (Primary/Secondary)
  • Tool and Techniques/workflows to reduce subsurface uncertainty
  • Building and maintenance of dynamic reservoir models, placement of development wells and optimization of wells and facilities operations.
  • Experience with reserve estimation techniques and knowledge of SEC/PRMS reserves guidelines
  • Prior experience in data analytics and large data sets at and oil and gas operator
  • Advanced working knowledge of statistics, machine learning & multivariate techniques
  • Experience with and knowledge of financial analysis techniques
