WELDER About the Job: Summary: Rebuild equipment for the food processing industry by using tig, mig, and stick welding skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Repairs, alters, and fabricates components using tig, mig, and stick welding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Determine appropriate materials and tools for welding, soldering, cutting, brazing, or fabricating.
  • Performs routine and emergency repairs and adjustments to parts and equipment.
  • Operates various equipment related to assigned activities including power and hand tools; forklift and overhead crane; drives vehicle to conduct work.
  • Performs various related duties as part of a team or independently as assigned.
  • Maintains shop and work area in a safe, clean, and orderly environment; adheres to safety standards according to established policies and procedures.
  • Performs a variety of related skilled and unskilled tasks in support of the department as required.
  • Communicates with team to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.

Education and/or Experience: Technical degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift and Overhead Crane Certification. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts. Team communication skills are important. Other Qualification: Prior experience working with stainless steel.
